Batu Caves on Kartigai Deepam
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Malaysia's Batu Caves are one of the most important cultural sites in this Southeast Asian country, as well as one of the most important sites in Hinduism outside of India. The complex is located in the town of Gombak in Selangor, a state on the western coast of peninsular Malaysia. Formed about 400 million years ago, the caves caught the attention of the Hindu cleric K. Thamboosamy Pillay in the 19th century. Distinguished by the giant statue of Lord Murugan, the caves are the focus of the annual Hindu celebration of Thaipusam.
