Beautiful Dramatic Smokey Skies on the Oregon Coast

This dramatic drone footage, captured at 10 AM, is reminiscent of the end of times. The Chetco Bar fire, ignited by lightning on July 12th in the Kalmiopsis National Forest, has rapidly expanded and is now over 100 thousand acres. Steep, inaccessible terrain has prevented firefighters from making direct attacks on the blaze. Hot and windy weather has caused the fire to jump its containment lines and force the evacuation of hundreds of residences near Brookings Oregon. If you look closely, ash can be seen falling from the thick blanket of smoke that is pouring out over the Pacific Ocean.
