The word "Berane" itself has its origins in the Proto-Slavic word baran - ram. After liberation from the Turks on October 6, 1912, Berane became part of Montenegro and received state, cultural and other development functions. From July 21, 1949 to March 1992, it was called Ivangrad, after the national hero and revolutionary, Ivan Milutinović.The town of Berane is located in the northeast of Montenegro. The convenient geographical position and well-developed roads have always enabled constant migration of the population. Migrations led to direct contacts of various peoples, which created the possibility for the mixing of economic and cultural achievements, which can be seen in the remains of material culture, which has been preserved to this day.
