The monument to Buzludzha is the largest ideological monument of the communist regime in Bulgaria. The site is included in the National Park-Museum "Shipka-Buzludzha", which has been declared a historical and architectural reserve. It was built in 1981 on Mount Hadji Dimitar, better known by its old name Buzludzha (until 1942), in honor of the Buzludzha Congress, held at the same place in 1891. The Congress established the Bulgarian Social Democratic Party, for which The BCP and its successor, the BSP, are considered successors. Buzludzha Peak and the Monument are sacred to the Bulgarian Communists until 1989. The monument on Hadji Dimitar Peak is being built near the Vatro Pole area (Uzana), considered the geographical center of the country. In the pentagon at the top of the pylon are installed lighting fixtures with a power of 150 kW, and according to the project the light from them can be seen from the Romanian bank of the Danube, and at night and in clear weather - from the White Sea in White Sea Thrace. Asphalt roads from Shipka Peak and from the main road Stara Zagora - Ruse in the section after Kazanlak have been laid to the monument. A tall full-length monument to Dimitar Blagoev was erected near the turnoff for the monument.\ The monument of Buzludja is not restored - it is only preserved in order to protect it from further disintegration and to be visited.
