Contributor PJFDrone created this spectacular drone video of an important castle-fortress in central Spain. The Castle of Jadraque is situated in the Guadalajara province in the Castilla-La Mancha region. Built atop an old Roman fortification, the Moorish stronghold was taken by Christian forces in the 11th century. The castle was famously mentioned in the Song of El Cid, the epic poem of unknown authorship which chronicles the great, bloody struggle against Moorish control known as the Reconquesta.

The castle of the Cid or of Jadraque is a Spanish fortress located in the municipal term of Jadraque (Guadalajara). From its height it watches an extensive area of the river of Henares river, with the mountain ranges of the north of Guadalajara in the background.
Although vulgarly received the eloquent name of Castillo del Cid, this Castilian gentleman was never directly attached to him. His appellation is due to the fact that he lived the first Count of Cid, Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar and Mendoza.1
With a prehistoric antecedents, during the High Average Age, in Andalusí time, it was a defensive position of which few vestiges remain; As well as those belonging to the later plenomedieval centuries.
El castillo del Cid o de Jadraque es una fortaleza española situada en el término municipal de Jadraque (Guadalajara). Desde su altura vigila una extensa zona de la vega del río Henares, con las sierras del norte de Guadalajara al fondo.
Aunque vulgarmente reciba el elocuente nombre de Castillo del Cid, este caballero castellano nunca estuvo ligado directamente a él. Su apelativo se debe a que en él vivió el primer conde del Cid, Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar y Mendoza.1
Con unos antecedentes prehistóricos, durante la Alta Edad Media, en época andalusí, fue una posición defensiva de la que restan escasos vestigios; al igual que de los pertenecientes a los posteriores siglos plenomedievales.
