PLEASE NOTE: Climbing the East Face is Highly Dangerous, and should “never” be performed by inexperienced climbers. Your first few climbs should always be done with a regular experienced climber(s) of Mount Tibrogargan’s east face, who knows the mountain back to front. Many parts of the East Face route have Zero Margin for Error, and any slip or fall may, or will result in Death or Significant Injury. In this highlights video we follow a team of regular (weekly) climbers on a challenging, up to class 4 scramble, from the bottom to the top of Mount Tibrogargan’s very steep East Face (cave route). The climbing group also requested a full feature length video production of the entire climb, here is the link - https://youtu.be/xdcfpkiiIDQ Mount Tibrogargan is one of a group of trachyte plugs known collectively as the Glasshouse Mountains. It is not a tall mountain by any standards, being only 364 metres in height. However it’s confronting east face is a scowling visage which features in the aboriginal dreamtime legend concerning the formation of the mountains. According to the legend, Tibrogargan is the angry father of the mountain family facing away from the rest of the group after after striking his son (Mt Coonowrin) for failing to assist the pregnant mother Mount Beerwah during an ancient flood. Tibrogargan (“Tibro” to the locals) has around 40 named routes and countless variations on most of these. The easiest route is a tourist scramble up the less confronting west side, whilst the most difficult posted route known as “DV8” rates on the Australian (Ewbank) system as a Grade 27 (US 5.12c) on the East Face of the mountain. Videographers/drone pilots – Ross Langdon (filmed the lower half) & Edwin Mens who joined the climbers on their ascent (filmed the top half of mountain). Digital zoom & cropping used in some shots. Drones used were 2 x Autel Evo 2 Pro’s, filmed in 6K & rendered to 4K, log, 30fps. The Autel Evo 2 Pro is the perfect drone for this type of filming, as it has a long flight duration, a high quality 6K camera, and enormous stability in 40+kph winds (which were observed on this morning)..
