Consuegra Windmills (Toledo, Spain)

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : The twelve white windmills you will see in this drone video by Maite_Fornalino sit atop a ridge in the La Mancha province of central Spain. Called the Consuegra Windmills in reference to the nearby town, it's believed that they served as the inspiration for one of the great works of Western literature - Don Quixote, written by Miguel de Servantes in the early 17th century. In the novel, the hero attacks the windmills, believing them to be giants; this fictional scene gave rise to the expression "tilting at windmills".

Situados en la provincia de Toledo (Castilla-La Mancha), se encuentran 12 molinos blancos alineados que forman parte de La ruta del Quijote. Han sido declarados Bien de Interés Cultural. La mayoría de ellos fueron construidos a principios del siglo XIX, aunque alguno es posible que existiera ya en el siglo XVI. Cada uno de ellos tiene nombre propio, y aunque a día de hoy no se usan como tal, es un lugar muy interesante para pasear. Desde el cerro Calderico, donde se encuentran los molinos, se tiene una buena vista del pueblo de Consuegra. Junto a los molinos se encuentra el Castillo de la Muela.
