Bonifacio, located in the far south of Corsica, is the southernmost commune in metropolitan France. To the south, the Strait of Bonifacio separates Corsica from Italian Sardinia. After Porto-Vecchio, it is the second largest urban area in the Far South of Corsica, stretching from Bonifacio to Sari-di-Porto-Vecchio in the north and Monacia-d'Aullène in the west, passing through Figari and its airport.
