DJI Mini 3 Pro visits Clackmannan Tower Clackmannan Scotland

Admire the imposing keep of a 1300s tower house, visited by Robert Burns and built by a descendant of Robert the Bruce.

Clackmannan Tower is in a conspicuous hilltop position, and is visible from miles around. It has probably always been a ‘showy’ building, with high-quality stonework and repeated vaulting.

Its land was granted to Sir Robert Bruce by his kinsman King David II, son of King Robert the Bruce. It may be built on the site of a previous royal residence dating to the AD 1000s.

Today the tower stands alone, stripped of its ancillary structures.
