On this season of Drone Trippin, AirVūz Pilots Zoe Stumbaugh, Shaun Taylor, Shelby Voll and Colby Curtola head on the road trip of their lives. The pilots travel through scenic destinations across the western USA with FPV whiz, Trey Player, in a droned-out R.V. to test their skills in quad building, freestyle flow, drone racing, and pilot accuracy. What better way to show off those skills than with some Star Wars challenges? See what ZoeFPV as Chewbacca, Nytfury as Kylo Ren, Shelby Voll as Darth Vader, and SFPV as Obi Wan Kanobe can bring to the table and get the scoop on what these pilots are like once the goggles are off!
In this episode the AirVūz FPV team makes its way through Nevada and stops off at Sand Mountain, AKA Tatooine for a Freestyle Challenge! Who will survive the harsh desert environment and showcase their skills best, Light Side or Dark Side? It's sure to be epically awesome! VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: Computer Voice: This is Drone Trippin. Narrator: This episode, the pilots make a stop at- Computer Voice: Tatooine. Colby Curtola: We decided to leave [inaudible 00:00:25] and we stopped at this place we're calling the sand mountain. [00:00:30] And it was a sight to see, it looks just like Tatooine. Zoe Stumbaugh: This is straight up Tatooine, isn't it guys? Colby Curtola: Absolutely. A 100%. Zoe Stumbaugh: This is all you, dawg. Colby Curtola: This is Obi Wan's homeland ... Zoe Stumbaugh: Obi Wan. Colby Curtola: ... so I feel good. I feel at home here. I feel very comfortable flying here. It's legendary right here. Shaun Taylor: Well, yeah. There's no gates. Zoe Stumbaugh: Ooooh. The dark side's [crosstalk 00:00:51]. Come on now. Shelby Voll: Nowhere we've been, except for there, looks exactly like Tatooine. That was phenomenal and I knew right away that was like, yeah, that wing is flying this [00:01:00] without a doubt, so I pulled out my wings and just went for it. I didn't know what to do on the sand dune, but it's so cool. It's all smooth. It's just amazing. Colby Curtola: [00:01:30] Shelby has actually done some really cool stuff with the wing. It was cool to see his wing going across the sand dunes and so you see a shadow. And it was cool contrast between the sand and his white wing. Shelby Voll: The bad part is when you're flying, you can't see all the details. So, when you're getting really low and trying to get some real low, the ground proximity flight. [00:02:00] You don't see it. You can't tell how close you're getting till within like 10 feet and then you start to see bike runs or people's footprints or whatever like that, so that was pretty cool. Flying around sand dunes, then I came in for my landing. [00:02:30] No, I didn't even come for landing. Here's the, my whole point was before, you can't even see the ground that well. I came by one path so now, I was really low. And I didn't realize how point it was till the last second too late. And just clipped one of my winglets, which is my wingtip and just yanked me into this massive [inaudible 00:02:49] like, it was hard. It was hurting. I was coming to my left, and I wanted to fly over me. I always like to get a close shot of me flying over myself, put it in my videos. [00:03:00] And it hit probably 10 feet away from me into the ground. I think it hit me right here, not even noticing like the prop, because it actually bounced over me and continued down away, down the hill. I've had a lot of luck this trip. Zoe Stumbaugh: So we showed to these sand dunes to freestyle and I just ended up doing nothing but speed runs on my mad scientist set up of a machine. [00:03:30] I just want this to go fast. Shaun Taylor can't have all the fun. Unknown Speaker: Zoe, what are you doing? Zoe Stumbaugh: Excel. See how this goes. I've actually never flown this set up like this. So I grabbed my 6S rig and for those that don't know, 6S stands for 6 cell and it has about 180 amps at full throttle, so it's a ton of power in a little pack. Unknown Speaker: Clear. Zoe Stumbaugh: Are we good? Let's do this. [00:04:00] I thought, you know what. White sand dunes, now is the time. That thing is the loudest machine in the entire crew. Right next to Shelby's wing. Colby Curtola: Give it a [inaudible 00:04:21]. Too much power. Zoe's flying a 6S [00:04:30] 3D Quad Copter. I don't think it's ever been done before. Sounds like the crops can't handle the power. Zoe Stumbaugh: The only issue I had with the machine was that shake. So every time I hit full throttle, it's flutter away. It's the distance. Colby Curtola: She's running the [inaudible 00:04:45] fan at 1545 from the crops fan. I [00:05:00] think she needs- Zoe Stumbaugh: Shelby, it's going dead. Colby Curtola: ... something made for success. A little bit [inaudible 00:05:02], I'm not sure. Looks like she's landing now, so. Is something wrong? Zoe Stumbaugh: No, my battery sagged dude. Colby Curtola: I think the crops couldn't full, the crops couldn't handle it. Shelby, could you catch this? Zoe Stumbaugh: [crosstalk 00:05:14] everything's hot. Oh, wow, dude. That battery's hot. Feel this. Come here, Shelby. Feel the motors. Shelby Voll: [00:05:30] That battery is fine, but it is a little hot. Zoe Stumbaugh: Yeah. Shelby Voll: Those are hot too. Oh yeah, if you hold it a little longer, okay yeah, it is really hot. Zoe Stumbaugh: The DSCs are completely cool. Aw, that was fun. Computer Voice: Tatooine. Shaun Taylor: Tatooine, where brother Colby Wan is hailing from. So I'd say that he had a little bit of a home quarter advantage here. Well, he decided to challenge me to a freestyle battle. Oh my God. Please [00:06:00] don't move the thing. Oh my God. Oh, they're shooting ... You're killing me man. You're killing me. Are you guys for real? I'm gonna come back. I'm done. I'm coming back. Screw this. I'm done. [00:06:30] The crew managed to somehow burry the rear axle into the ... the tires into the sand. So we had to get them out. Unknown Speaker: Rock it. Rock it. If you can back up further ... [00:07:00] Okay. No, I can't do this. Shaun Taylor: I can't ... try to harness my inner dark side, and I failed. Basically, Colby Wan took the win with authority on this one. And yes, it angers me. Colby Curtola: We are not getting our security deposit back. [00:07:30] We actually got one of our RVs stuck. So I kinda looked around and saw this little shaded area. Not sure what it's for but I turned it into a freestyle park. I found [00:08:00] this cool little wooden structure, with kind of three gaps in it side by side, so I made some power loops through the gaps. Unknown Speaker: That was nice. The third one's coming up. Nice. Colby Curtola: Coming in. [00:09:30] Hey, what's up? So after I pretty much dominated the field in the freestyle challenge. Shaun and I had a face off in the sand dunes. Shaun Taylor: After the freestyle challenge, I saw that Colby Wan was out searching for something, like he usually is. And I decided to go out and made my own little challenge face to face with him. [00:10:00] Is he actually doing the YMCA? That's why he's in second. I cannot wait for the next race. I will sabotage and Obi Wan will fall. Computer Voice: Come to the dark side. Narrator: Next episode. Who will prevail, the light side or the dark side? In the season finale of Drone Trippin Season One. Champion of the light side, Obi Wan Kenobi [00:10:30] will take on Kylo Ren, champion of the dark side to prove who is the master of the universe.
