Daocheng Yading

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Top contributor T - christ - T won another DVOW contest with this excellent aerial video of Daocheng Yading National Nature Reserve in western China. Its located in Daocheng County in the giant inland province of Sichuan. Like most of the giant Tibet Autonomous Region, which lies immediately to the west, Daocheng Yading lies on the Tibetan Plateau, the vast highly elevated flat land which captures the massive runoff from the Himalayan Mountains (which lie to the south) and is the source of most of China's most important rivers.

Daocheng Yading National Nature Reserve. It is located in Shangri La City, Daocheng County, in the southern part of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Situated in the eastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, amidst the Hengduan Mountains, the reserve borders Shangri La County in Yunnan Province to the south and Lugu Lake and Lijiang to the southeast. The reserve's forest cover spans 560 square kilometers, providing a habitat for numerous wild animals and plants. It boasts more than 10 peaks over 5,000 meters high, more than 30 peaks over 4,500 meters high, and 62 ancient glaciers and alpine lakes.
