What is the dolly zoom?

The dolly zoom, parallax or vertigo effect is a camera movement that's quick, yet effective at disorienting viewers.

In layman's terms, the dolly zoom is when the camera lens zooms or crops in on the subject while the camera itself is pulling backwards. The resulting effect is pretty dizzying, making it look like the subject stays in the same place while the background morphs around them.

This is a compilation of various video scenes with & without the dolly zoom effect.

Each scene is shown twice, firstly with the Dolly Zoom effect, and secondly without any editing. One of these scenes is out of focus but was ideal for showing off the dolly zoom effect..

This was shot during the morning blue hour (civil twilight) transition, prior to sunrise. It was also the same morning that a super moon was setting in the west..Plus a stunning sunrise in the east.

Location is Eleanor Schonell Bridge & Yeronga reach of the Brisbane River, Queensland, Australia.

Shot by the Autel Lite, 4K mp4, 30fps, auto settings.

Edited using Wondershare Filmora 13.
