Driving 8hrs through the night for the perfect sunrise.
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Contributor Joshua Paul Gardner drove through the night to be able to create this magnificent early morning shot of one of the most iconic sights in England. St. Michael's Mount is a tiny island off the coast of Cornwall, the southwesternmost county of Great Britain. Topped by a small castle and a church, the island bears considerable similarity (including its name) to Mont St. Michel in Normandy, France. Like the French island, it is a tidal island - connected to the island at times, but with no permanent bridge.

St Michaels Mount Sunrise // Little Escape // Episode 11 // Cornwall It's always worth making the effort to catch the sunrise, even if in my case it means driving 8hrs through the night. A very last minute phone call and a couple of emails I was heading down to Cornwall for a week. I'd been to the south-west as a child but couldn't remember much apart from the blue sea and sandy beaches. After spending a couple of hours researching a few locations, I knew I wanted to visit St Michaels Mount for sunrise. I quickly packed my gear, jumped in the car and started the long 8hr drive down to Cornwall, I left home at 10pm and made good time arriving in Marazion just after 6am. The morning was beautifully still with the waves gently lapping onto the shore, I watched the early morning mist slowly clear and the sun break through. The sky turned slowly from a mesmerising pink to orange and finally blue. Here's what I captured that morning.
