Drone Video of the Dutch 2019 Tulip Bloom

Published 04/19/2019 05:06
Stunning drone videos capture the 2019 tulip bloom in the Netherlands. The Dutch flower fields have been a symbol and top tourist spot for the Bollenstreek region of the Netherlands for more than 400 years.

Every spring, millions of visitors come to the area to enjoy the blooming flower fields. Tulips are the primary flower grown but others include hyacinths, daffodils, dahlias and calla lilies.

Tulips were introduced in the Netherlands at the end of the 16th century and they soon became a major trading product. The country is now the world's largest producer of tulips, with around 3 billion exported each year.

This coming weekend, the Netherlands will send flowers to St. Peter's Basilica in Rome for Easter Sunday service, which it has done since 1986 when the Vatican put the Netherlands in charge of their holiday floral display.

To experience the tulip bloom, visit the Bollenstreek region of the Netherlands during the first half of April.
