Much of the excitement of Dubai can be found in its ultra-modern Marina District, a development along the Persian Gulf coast a bit to the southwest of the downtown.  It's home to four of the five tallest skyscrapers in the city, the capital of its namesake emirate which is part of the United Arab Emirates.  Construction of the Marina District began in earnest following the Great Recession; only the first phase is complete as of mid-2020.  Check out the Marina District skyscrapers from above in this fantastic drone video by mohit.kingra.
