Duluth's Aerial Lift Bridge
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Situated on Lake Superior, Duluth, Minnesota was once one of the most important cities in the USA's Midwest. One of its best-known landmarks from its heyday in the early 1900's is the Aerial Lift Bridge. Spanning the Duluth Canal, it opened in 1905 as the USA's first transporter bridge, and was converted to a lift bridge in the late 1920's. Its design is crucial to allowing large vessels into the city's harbor, once the busiest in the country. Check out these aerial views of the famous bridge, compliments of duluthaerial.
