Dunalastair House, located in the Scottish Highlands, has a rich history dating back to the 19th century. Originally built in 1853 for General Sir John Macdonald of Dalchosnie, it replaced an earlier mansion known as Mount Alexander. Designed by architect Andrew Heiton, the house showcases classic 19th-century Scottish architecture.

The estate has changed hands several times, including ownership by the Robertson family, Alastair Macdonald, Hugh Tennent (founder of Tennent's Lager), and James Clark Bunten. The current owner, Ian Cameron de Sales La Terrière, has expressed a desire to restore the mansion, though challenges and costs have hindered progress.

During World War II, Dunalastair House was used as a Polish school, leading to significant damage and neglect. The house has since deteriorated further due to vandalism and a fire in the 1940s. Despite its current state, the estate remains a cultural and natural treasure, with deep ties to Scottish heritage and clans, particularly Clan Donnachaidh.
