El Boixar

El Boixar is a village, currently part of the Pobla de Benifassà, a municipality in the Valencian Country, located in the Baix Maestrat region, within the Mancomunitat dels Ports and Taula del Sénia. It is located in the historical and natural region of Tinença de Benifassà, one of the wildest and most beautiful areas in the Valencian Country. El Boixar had its own town hall until 1978, when it was absorbed by the Village of Benifassà to centralize the management of the municipal administration. Its name derives from the large number of boxwoods found around the town
