Man! I haven't flown in months due to a pretty busy spell at work and a ton of stuff happening at home. The combination took up most of my emotional and mental energy for the last few months, but I finally managed to scrape together some reserves to get everything updated and get a few packs in! I built this Bardwell QAV-S up just before all this went nuts but hadn't had a chance to fly it. I figured it should finally get in the air after months of hanging out on the wall looking pretty. While I was at it I got my Hours X10S upgraded to the latest EdgeTX release, Betaflight updated to 4.3 RC5, ESCs updated to 32.9 with the ByRPM dynamic PWM set, latest IRC Ghost firmware, and I picked up a GoPro Hero 10 Bones for good measure. It's amazing to me how much of the weight from modern builds has actually been coming from the progressively heavier cameras. I still have my Hero 7 Black and comparing my QAV-S standard edition with the Hero 7 at 720g all up to the Bardwell edition with the 10 Bones at 605g all up is pretty dramatic. All the upgrades plus the lower weight make this thing really fly like a dream. Betaflight 4.3 is ridiculously good. Just to get going I used Marks UAVTech freestyle preset, and the Ghost preset for my radio link. I popped in my rates (I was already using Actual rates) and gave it a few packs at my local testing spot. Sooo good! I think it's a tad overturned, but some minor tweaking should dial it in. Trilling a bit at high throttle and a bit of overshoot periodically, so I'll probably drop P gains a tad, but we'll see. With it being that light not too much of a surprise. The image quality on the Bones is pretty amazing. no complaints at all, though I am having some issues connecting to the camera via WiFi. We'll see if support can get the issue worked out, but I suspect a compatibility issue with the version of Android in my phone. I need to try with a different phone. Overall super pleased with it. I ran my battery too low the first pack and dropped out of the air, but aside from a small crack in one corner of the lens protector it took it like a champ! landed face first too! Fortunately the crack isn't visible in the footage, so the second pack still came out great! Also fortunately the lens protector is easy to replace! I'll probably pick up some ND filters while I'm at it. Anyway, I'm rambling, but it's good to get back at it! I hope you enjoy the flight as much as I enjoyed flying it! Not going to lie my hands were shaking a bit after!
