FPV - Hermitage Sant Esteve de Marganell (Wikipedia source) The site of Marganell is documented from 924, and although it is considered to exist in the s. XI, the news documents the church in 1143, the date on which Ramon Gaufred, bishop of Vic, and his chapter gave the monastery of Santa Cecilia and Abbot Guillermo, the church of Sant Esteve de Marganell. Being attached to Santa Cecilia followed the vicissitudes of this monastery, which in 1539 became dependent on Santa Maria de Montserrat. In 1880 it was attached to the bishopric of Barcelona, as the monastery. Although it underwent several reforms, only the one from 1824 is dated but in 1936 it was desecrated. It is currently totally abandoned, in a dilapidated state. Not even the door can be opened as a result of the debris.
