From Gold Rush to Toxic Wasteland, this is just one of the many ghost-towns in Colorado. Long abandoned mines litter the side of mountains in this region, leaving the skeletal remains of once booming cities. Life was rough for the miners and their families during this time as most actually planned on losing 1 out of 3 children to sickness or disease, usually as infants. Because of this, many children were not named until they reached a certain age, and those who did die after being named, usually had their name reused for the next child born into the family.
