Mrs. Chile Vuela and I took a trip for a bit of flying to Conguillio National Park with a few friends over the past long weekend. We stayed in the Cabañas Vista Hermosa (http://www.vistahermosaconguillio.cl), which promised awesome views and definitely delivered. The timelapses were taken from just off our front porch. Still getting the hang of those, btw, so there's some flickering despite my best effort to remove it in post processing. More practice needed, obviously!
The flying was mostly good, but marred by me leaving my last long range rig in Lago Conguillio, and Gonzalo leaving his Alien stuck (we think) in an Araucaria tree. Had I been cautious enough to actually use the GetterBack (www.getterback.com) that I had in my pack, I probably would have come home with my quad, but I thought at the time.. "meh. Nothing's going to happen here". Costly lesson learned, I think. What caused the crash? Good question. I suspect an ESC gave out. That rig had been having some pretty serious vibration issues randomly, and I think they finally got too much for the esc to handle.
