FPV meets RC Turbine
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Among the newer additions to the world of hobbyist radio controlled aircraft are electric ducted fan powered airplanes. EDF's are propelled by internal fans driven by high-powered brushless motors; these planes look and sound like jets. In this amazing video by AirVuz contributor nikofilmz, you'll be treated to first person view (FPV) footage from a racing drone chasing a Swiss Air Force F-5 EDF; note that the jet had its flaps deployed due to the "low" speeds of 100-120 km/h (60-80 mph).

Believe it or not, most of this video was filmed at 60-80mph. Even at these speeds, RC turbines struggle to stay aloft without deploying flaps because their cruising speed far exceeds our top drone speeds. This resulted in one of my props exploding midair and my frame got completely busted in the ensuing crash. The footage we got for this video was well worth the sacrifice and after a ton of epoxy I'm happy to say my drone is back in the sky! ✈️🤘 FPV pilots: @carterfilmz, @nikofilmz RC pilot: Shaquille James Music: M83 - Oblivion
