Punta Tuna Light is a historic lighthouse located in the southeast of the town of Maunabo, Puerto Rico on a sharp promontory at the southeastern most point of the island. It was first lit in 1892 and automated in 1989. The light was a third order lighthouse that served as primary light connecting the island's southern and eastern lights system. I did not realize until I arrived the devastation really is here until we arrived in Maunabo. This is where Hurricane Maria landed and you can clearly see how impactful it was to this beautiful area. In spite of the 160 mile per hour winds, the Faro of Punta Tuna remained and it is damaged but intact. I was taken back by how beautiful this whole area is. Also know that many of these historical light houses are in peril and crumbling. A great link to the history of this light house: http://lighthousefriends.com/light.as...
