Construction of the great edifice began in 1296 and wasn't completed for 140 years. The church is the centerpiece of the Piazza del Duomo complex, one of the top tourist attractions in the Tuscany region and indeed in all of Europe. The video includes shots of the other famous buildings in the complex, including Giotto's Bell Tower, the Baptistery of St. John, and more.

The Cathedral of Florence, officially known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, is one of the masterpieces of Renaissance architecture. Its majestic dome, designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, dominates the city panorama. The white, pink and green marble facade, enriched with sculptures and reliefs, is a superb example of Gothic style. Giorgio Vasari's frescoes inside narrate biblical stories and religious scenes, enriching the visitor experience. The lantern at the top of the dome offers a spectacular view of the city. Construction took several centuries, starting in 1296 with the design of Arnolfo di Cambio and ending in 1436 with the consecration of the Cathedral. Giotto's bell tower, with its ornate structure, is another iconic element of the complex. The interior of the cathedral houses priceless works of art, including Donatello's Madonna del Fiore.
