Gossamer Wings

Just messing around flying my FPV freestyle rig in a parking lot and around some trees. My Gear and how I use it: Visor: Fat Shark Dominator V3 Luv it.. I installed a power button and they are way more convenient now. Radio: Taranis QX7S with crossfire lite Can't go wrong with this dynamic duo. The radio is solid and the crossfire is just more peace of mind. I had to do the radio mod to get these to work correctly but it was easy. The qx7 mod kit came with the crossfire so I didn't have to purchase anything separately. Frame: Armattan Marmotte 5" I have tried both the NASA carbon and the regular carbon. the regular carbon is very much more durable albeit a little heavier. I recommend the heavier carbon unless you never crash. Motors: iFlight Xing CAMO 2208 1700kv These take a lickin and keep on tickin. They are powered by 6S 1300mah and have been bashed and abused and I haven't noticed any problems. They fly like new after 6 months of pure torture. Batteries: CHL Black 6S 1100mah and 1300mah Props: HQ 4.8X3.4X4 I use these when flying around people or whenever I want to make very smooth steady lines. They produce much less sound than 3 or less bladed props and they are super steady and my quad feels more locked in when I am trying to get a long steady shot. They do fine for freestyle park flying as well and folks around hardly notice I'm ripping balls. T-Motor T5143-1 These are great for dynamic freestyle flying. They are light and they react very fast to changing motor speeds. FC: Matek F722-SE My new favorite FC. This thing has lots of uarts, a barometer for gauging altitude, 2 camera hookups, and a built in BEC with good caps that ensures clean video. I don't have to run a separate ESR cap. This FC makes building easy. ESC: Airbot Wraith32 V2 These single ESCs are the best, most durable, and electrically quiet ESCs I have found so far. They fit the wider Marmotte arms perfectly. Camera: Runcam Eagle Micro Does the job but I'm waiting for HD FPV to become more prominent and much cheaper. The camera is great nonetheless. VTX: Unify Pro V3 Receiver: Crossfire Nano This thing is tiny and almost weightless and I love the telemetry info it gives and the ease of setup. The GPS is a RDQ micro M8N GLONASS. I use different information from this depending on my flight path. Sometimes I use just the arrow home and sometimes I keep the latitude and longitude numbers on the osd so I can find my drone by playing back the dvr and recording the last coordinate data. Pro tip: don't power this from 5V. Use the 3.3V pads on the FC to power this. It will burn out on 5V. Ask me how I know. I use Brain3d.com for my frame kit 3d prints. They have never disappointed and they always send free candy and extra little xt-60 caps. I use a 3d printed antenna holder mounted to the rear that I get from an ebay seller: willben (3,366) It holds my GPS, Crossfire, and AXII antennae nicely out of the way and out of the props. This thing is great! I have 3 OSD profiles set to a 3-way switch. Profile 1 shows only battery voltage. Profile 2 shows voltage, RSSI, and barometer altitude info. Profile 3 shows all that plus GPS info: Arrow home, Lattitude/Longitude, distance home, and amount of SATs locked on. I also use another 3-way switch to select between 3 different rate profiles. From slow to fast. The slowest one is good for very smooth lines, the middle one is what I usually fly, and the fastest rate is great for testing PIDs and filters and is fun to play with. I love experimenting and trying new things and having different rates to choose from helps to broaden the possibilities.
