Guilt (Dirtwire)

This 26th video is the penultimate of my Pacific Northwest trip. (Not all are on AirVuz.) I am in no way religious, but one christian concept that echos powerfully in me is 'original sin'. In many of us modern humans, there is a current of guilt that runs deep. Like self-doubt, it can render us catatonic. But unlike doubt, there is no denying the truth that we are all guilty of plenty and inescapably stained. While we all have committed social (and even actual) crimes against each other, there are also things I feel guilty about that are so much larger than me, that I feel powerless to correct. For example, think of all the oil that has been and will be burnt for the convenience and pleasure of me. How many extinctions will be the result of our addiction to power over the elements? It is happening right now! So rushing waters of guilt churn and drag me under. Is there no redemption to be had, even in recognizing that there is beauty in this natural emotion?
