Situated a bit to the northeast of the center city, the massive tower carries signals for virtually all of the TV and radio stations available in the Russian capital. Standing 540 meters (just under 1.8k ft.) tall when it was completed in 1967, it was the tallest structure in the world for nearly a decade. The tower remains the tallest freestanding structure in Europe as of 2020.
