Veliko Tarnovo was the home of the capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire, one of the dominant powers in Southeastern Europe in the 13th century. The video includes footage of the magnificent hilltop fortress of Tsarevets, the Assens Monument to the Bulgarian Tsars, the Yantra River, and more from this city built on a series of hills in the north-central part of the country.
