Indian Ridge is in the Willamette National Forest. Indian Ridge was given its name because of a nearby old Indian hunting trail. The lookout was built in 1958 by the Forest Service and used by their personnel until 1973. The lookout is still used by them for emergencies.
The lookout is now rented out in the summer to the public, although it can be difficult to get a reservation due to popularity. Elevation is about 5400 ft.
