AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Take a tour of one of the great landmarks of Istanbul, Turkey in this fantastic first person view (FPV) video by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot ucarakkesfet. It's called Sultanahmet Square, and in pre-Ottoman times it was called the Hippodrome of Constantinople. The original square dates to Roman times, when the city was known as Byzantium. It took on much of its present shape during the reign of Constantine, when it became the center of social life in the city as a circus. At one point, its stands could hold up to 100k spectators.

The place where Sultanahmet Square is located was the hippodrome during the Byzantine period. The word hippodrome is derived from the Greek words hippo (horse) and dromos (racetrack). This hippodrome, which is one of the oldest Byzantine structures in Istanbul, was the place where chariot race events were held, acrobatics and dance performances, animal fights and jousts between knights were held. Hagia Sophia and Sultanahmet Mosque, which are visited by both local and foreign tourists, are located in this square. In addition, there are many historical monuments in the square. Especially the ornamental pool in the middle of Sultanahmet Square adds a different atmosphere to the square. You should definitely visit the Sultanahmet square, which gives people peace in every aspect.
