This video is from one of the more scenic places along Deer Creek in California. I will be vague about where this is to honor the landowner that gave me permission to video here, and to preserve this pristine landscape. Using a drone to film preserves the environment, and is much safer than climbing around on the very rugged but slippery creek bed. I was invited to help with the shooting of some aerial video for a documentary on Deer Creek. When the documentary is complete, I will post the link here. It was late afternoon and the light was fairly good for most of the path I was planning on flying. The GPS signal was week and I was doing a fair amount of manual flying so there are a few spots that are less smooth, but when you are flying with white knuckles, and low visibility it is had to be smooth. I was very amazed during post production of the warmth and beauty of the backlit dragonflies at 6:15. The dragonflies are enjoying this moment of beauty and solitude and don't appear to be bothered by the drone. Deer Creek flows through the Sierra Nevada Range in Northern California. The stream begins above Scotts Flat Lake in the alpine region in the Tahoe National Forest, continues for 34 miles through the middle of downtown Nevada City. It is also a tributary to Lake Wildwood and ends as it enters the Yuba River below Englebright Lake.
