Jarami Bond Drone Film (San Mateo County, CA)

New contributor Jarami Bond brings us this excellent drone video of a little-known bit of 20th century history on the California coastline: Devil's Slide. A promontory located in San Mateo County just south of San Francisco, the point is distinguished by an observation pillbox which was used during World War II as part of the USA's coastal defense against a feared Japanese invasion of the American mainland. It was later used to film the finale of the noir thriller Portrait in Black starring Lana Turner and Anthony Quinn (1960).

When creating this drone short, I wanted to create something calm and serene, highlighting nature in its raw form. I personally believe that Earth is breathing a little better during this quarantine. I wanted to communicate this feeling through the music, scenes, and editing style. I decided to launch from an abandoned World War 2 bunker formerly used to keep watch for Japanese military vessels. I think bunker introduces an element of mystery into the short. I hope you all enjoy!
