Kazan Cathedral, Saint Petersburg

Kazan Cathedral is one of the great landmarks of St. Petersburg, Russia.  Situated on Nevsky Prospekt (the city's main thoroughfare), the church is dedicated to one of Russia's greatest religious icons: Our Lady of Kazan.  Originally designed as sort of a Russian Orthodox Church "answer" to St. Peters Basilica in Rome, the church was completed in 1811.   It's considered one of the four great churches of St. Petersburg, along with Church of the Savior on Blood, the Peter and Paul Cathedral, and St. Isaac's Cathedral..
