Koknese, Latvia
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Contributor Baltic Drone Videos brings us this excellent drone video of an important castle ruin site in the Baltic republic of Latvia. It's called Koknese Castle, and it lies on a small peninsula of its namesake town on the Dauvga River near the center of the country. Constructed in the 13th century, the castle played an important role in the centuries-long struggles between the Teutonic Knights, Swedish, Polish, and Russian forces over control of the region. Nearly destroyed in 1701 during the Great Northern, it was never rebuilt.
