On the border between Portugal and the province of Ourense, we find the picturesque town of Lindoso, built on a slope that culminates in a narrow gorge of the Lima River valley. This northern corner of the Portuguese country offers us interesting places to visit, from its castle that watches over the population from the heights, to a set of granite granaries. Without forgetting the presence of its reservoir, whose construction left a Galician town submerged in its depths.

The municipality of Ponte da Barca is in charge of hosting this small parish that barely exceeds 1,000 inhabitants. We find it nestled in a privileged natural environment, between the Peneda-Gerês National Park and the Gerês – Xurés Transfrontier Biosphere Reserve.

But beyond its beautiful landscape, the remains of a fortress known as Lindoso Castle stand out within its framework. It was built at the beginning of the 13th century with the aim of defending the area during conflicts with the Kingdom of Castile, such as the Restaração Wars.

To this day, its walls are still preserved, while inside we find the ruined warden's house, a chapel and the Homenaje tower, 15 meters high. There is even a museum with an exhibition of weapons from the 14th to 19th centuries and another with a collection of archaeological pieces from the town's territory.

And next to the castle, there is an interesting set of 62 granite granaries, formerly used to store the cereals harvested in the place.
