Les Abadies del Canigó

The video shows us two very important abbeys at the historical level of the region of Conflent, located in the eastern French Pyrenees. The first is the abbey of San Miguel de Cuxa, in Codalet, an exceptional architectural ensemble with the great pre-Romanesque church of the X.

The second is the abbey of Sant Martí del Canigó, founded at the end of the tenth century, is located at 1,094 m altitude, behind a rocky outcrop of the Canigou massif, next to the small village of Castell de Vernet.

The music is a version of the Cant dels ocells, by the great Catalan musician Pau Casal, very much in love with this region.
