Lurgan Park is the second largest urban park in Ireland; the park is steeped in history dating back to the late 1700's and in the past along with Lurgan Golf Club formed part of the Demesne of Lurgan House, now called Brownlow House. Lurgan Park recently went through a major refurbishment project supported by HLF to a total of £1.4 millionThe park is over 250 acres in size and boosts many paths for walking, a super play area and large green spaces. The park can be found tucked in behind the market town of Lurgan and can be described as a 'hidden gem'. The Park Lake has been stocked with Roach, Breem and Tench and there are 20 newly constructed fishing stands allowing the visiting angler excellent access to this beautiful resource. Rowing boats are available to hire on the Lake on certain weekends from April to September from 1pm - 5pm, weather dependent and cost £2.00 per person, maximum number per boat is four and all children must be supervised by an adult. The Lake or 'mill dam' was dug by hand during the 18th Century and served both as an ornament surrounded by landscaped walks and as power source to drive Brownlow's corn mill in the townland of Dougher.
