The Malcantone is the most typical of the Ticino Sottoceneri region, welcomes tourists between an arm of Lake Lugano (Lugano) Agno, the Gulf, the Ponte Tresa River and the mountains that divide Switzerland and Italy, and the splendid Lake Maggiore (Locarno). The most scenic point of Malcantone region is the Monte Lema, accessible by foot or by cable car from Miglieglia. The wealth of Malcantone lies in of art that complements the natural splendour of the region. The region consists of 26 villages at different altitudes. Highest settlements are located between 800 and 900 metres. The trails pass the 300 Km long and connected between them the most beautiful places of the Malcantone. Just to name a few, the Church of Sant’Ambrogio in Cademario and Santo Stefano in Miglieglia, with their bell towers and romanesque frescoes of the 12th and 13th centuries.
