Not universally defined, Midtown East is generally taken to include the area east of Fifth Avenue, south of 59th Street, and north of (depending on definition) 33rd or 23rd Street. While this area has seen less new construction compared to the area west of Fifth Avenue in recent years, it continues to be home to one of the world's largest collections of skyscrapers.
