Had a ton of fun flying in the rain through the Mima Mounds in Olympia, WA. I can't believe I had never made it out to see these things before! I felt like I was dancing between the mounds with my quad. Conformal coating FTW! "Mima mounds are low, flattened, circular to oval, domelike, natural mounds that are composed of loose, unstratified, often gravelly sediment. These mounds range in diameter from 3 to more than 50 m; in height 30 cm to greater than 2 m; and in density from several to greater than 50 mounds per hectare, at times forming conspicuous natural patterns. Many theories exist as to what created the Mima Mounds. Everything from geologic forces to extraterrestrial have been cited to explain the strange lumps that carpet the 445-acres of this National Natural Landmark."
