The Modern Greek Language School as a second / foreign language of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens has been operating since the 1950s, with a small number of students initially increasing dramatically in the decades that followed. The Teaching School is the largest Greek language teaching center in the world. Many of the graduates of the School are today professors of Modern Greek Language and Literature at universities around the world, members of their country's diplomatic corps, members of the Church hierarchy, prominent scientists, executives, distinguished artists and artists. The School is part of the Interdisciplinary Program for the Teaching of Modern Greek as a Second / Foreign Language, along with the Postgraduate Degree Program in the Department of Philology and the Department of Philosophy, Education and Psychology.
