The Guruslău Monument (Sălaj County) is built on Guruslău Hill, 12 km from Zalău, 2 km from the European Route E81, in honor of Mihai Viteazul's victory on August 3, 1601, the last victory before his assassination on 9 August 1601, on the Turzii plain, 3 km south of Turda, where the voivode of Valah defeated Sigismund Báthory.
The monument, inaugurated on 21 October 1976, is a reconstruction in a more impressive form of the 10-meter-high monument, erected in 1928 on the hill near the locality, and demolished in 1941 by the Hungarian authorities [1] who took Transylvania North by the Vienna Dictate.
The current monument is made of reinforced concrete and travertine and has a height of 26 meters.
On the basement there are scenes from the battles of Mihai Viteazul and on top there is a obelisk, made up of three parallel blades, representing the three Romanian countries, the outer ones being applied to the upper part.
The edifice, made in 1976 by the sculptor Victor Gaga (1930 - 2003), is on the historical monuments under the LMI code: SJ-III-m-B-05155.
