NOTRE-DAME DE L'HERMITAGE from the sky

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Hermitage rises high above Noirétable at an altitude of 1,110 meters, bordering the Loire and Puy-de-Dôme departments.

The community of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of La Salette welcomes visitors, witnesses to the spirituality of the sanctuary, and runs the guesthouse. The community is accompanied by a Chaplain who conducts religious services, celebrations, confessions, and more.

The community is also assisted by numerous volunteers from the Association Notre Dame de l'Hermitage who contribute their skills, especially during major events.

The reception is open every day, year-round, except during the month of November. Visitors seeking relaxation or spirituality find a warm, family-like welcome here and can, while strolling or dining, build friendships with other pilgrims.

The feasts and pilgrimages of the Assumption on August 15th and the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin on September 8th are the shrine's highlights.

The shrine welcomes pilgrims, visitors, and tourists. It has a reception center and a guesthouse that can accommodate individuals, families, or groups wishing to experience a time of rest or reflection. The stay is ideal for a spiritual retreat, a family gathering, or a professional seminar. The community can also provide temporary accommodation for independent seniors and offer guided tours.

The shrine of Our Lady of the Hermitage is a magnificent tourist site. The grounds extend into a valley surrounded by forests and are crossed by the GR 3 long-distance hiking trail and a Santiago de Compostela trail. Other hiking and mountain biking trails are located in the surrounding area.

The sanctuary is located approximately seven kilometers southwest of Noirétable, approximately 70 km from Clermont-Ferrand and 80 km from Saint-Etienne (via the A72 motorway, exit "Les Salles/Noirétable"). From Noirétable, take the D53, then the D101 towards La Chamba / Col de la Loge.
