The Nepali Highway is one of the most spectacular and distinctive high-mountain trails in the Swiss Alps. The route connects the Albert-Heim-Hütte with the Sidelenhütte, in the impressive Furka Pass region of the canton of Uri, crossing a dramatic alpine landscape of rocky walls, scree slopes, snowfields and imposing peaks. The name “Nepali Highway” refers to the Nepalese workers who helped construct and develop this remarkable route. Its rugged and wild scenery can resemble, in some sections, the landscapes of the Himalayas. Along the trail, hikers encounter rocky passages, steep slopes and exposed sections, while enjoying magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers. Starting from the Albert-Heim-Hütte, the trail heads towards the Sidelenhütte, situated beneath the impressive Bielenhorn massif. Along the way, the panorama includes some of the region’s most distinctive peaks, such as Chli Bielenhorn and Gross Bielenhorn, as well as glaciers and high alpine summits surrounding the Furka Pass.
