Norwegian stave church in Germany
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
AirVuz contributor and pilot seb-depp brings us this beautiful drone video of a well-known "stave" type church in Northern Germany. It's called Gustav Adolf Stave Church, and it's located in the town of Hahnenklee in the Harz Mountains of Lower Saxony. Consecrated in the early 20th century on the eve of the Great War, the landmark is a copy of Norway's Borgund Stave Church. While Europe was once home to thousands of stave churches (which use timber construction), this is one of the few which remain standing outside of Scandinavia.

When the small town of Hahnenklee in the Harz mountains needed a bigger place for worship in the early 20th century, it commissioned the architect Mohrmann who had just seen the stave churches of Norway. He build a church for 350 persons and inserted windows. The stave churches of Norway are usually much smaller and have no windows. The inside of the church is very pretty as wall: lots of carvings and painting. After that we take a look at the „love bank“ near Hahnenklee. A pretty spot. Finally there are a few shots around Hahnenklee (the Schalker Turm - tower), another lake and the cliffs of Philippsbrücke near Altenau. Music: borrtex - it starts with patience
