Old Baldy Lighthouse
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Contributor and pilot Bumble Bee Productions brings us this beautiful aerial view of one of the most famous lighthouses in the Southeastern USA. It's called Bald Head Lighthouse, known colloquially as Mt. Baldy. Situated on Bald Head Island near the mouth of the Cape Fear River, it's the oldest standing lighthouse in the Tar Heel State. It opened in 1817 to protect shipping in and out of the then-young port of Wilmington. Both Mt. Baldy and the nearby Cape Fear Lighthouses were closed in the late 1950's.

Only one way to get to Bald Head Island and that is by Ferry and I finally was able to go and buzz the light house. I added the ferry ride which I managed to get soaked but it’s all part of the fun.
