A stranger from the north

Draws its gentle rhythm.

In this corner of the sleeping Gulf

Where sails and foresails dance,

This traveler from the Netherlands

Tells its distant tales.

Sturdy child of Zeeland

On our Breton shores,

It offers us its legend

And its secrets of the horizon.

Its weathered planks

By so many seas crossed,

Whisper to amazed passersby

Of unknown adventures.

In this maritime theater

Where our familiar features sail,

It sketches, sublime guest,
