Parque Megalitico de Gorafe The Gorafe Megalithic Park is an archaeological site conditioned for your visit located in the municipality of Gorafe, province of Granada, Andalusia (Spain). It is one of the best examples of megalithism in the south of the Iberian Peninsula due to its high number of funerary monuments.1 It is situated on the banks of the valley of the river Gor in a terrain formed by conglomerates and limestones heavily eroded during the Pleistocene by the river channels. The surrounding land is called the Negrain Badlands or Gorafe Desert, heavily eroded areas and occupied by cereal crops since prehistoric times. In the area have identified up to 11 necropolis in the 20 kilometers of the bed of the river Gor and several settlements of the Bronze Age. A total of 242 dolmens have been found with very varied typologies from the simplest burials with pentagonal plant to large burials with false dome. The dimensions of these burials are also diverse existing orthostats up to 2.20 meters in height and diameters of the chamber of 2.5 meters. The funeral trousseau associated with the burials has allowed its dating from the Neolithic to the end of the Bronze Age. The skeletons recovered in the deposits have allowed to reconstruct the funerary rituals of these towns, with burial collective of several family clans. The megalithic park was created in 1998 after the discovery of numerous plunder and destruction in the monuments. It is formed by an interpretation center located in the same town of Gorafe and three marked routes where 37 dolmens were restored and 66 prepared for the visit. El Parque megalítico de Gorafe es un yacimiento arqueológico acondicionado para su visita localizado en el término municipal de Gorafe, provincia de Granada, Andalucía (España). Es uno de los mejores ejemplos del megalitismo del sur de la Península ibérica por su alto número de monumentos funerarios.1​ Se encuentra situado en los márgenes del valle del río Gor en un terreno formado por conglomerados y calizas fuertemente erosionados durante el Pleistoceno por los cauces fluviales. Los terrenos circundantes son denominados badlands del Negratín o desierto de Gorafe, zonas muy erosionadas y ocupadas por cultivos de cereales desde tiempos prehistóricos. En la zona se han identificado hasta 11 necrópolis en los 20 kilómetros del cauce del río Gor y varios asentamientos de la Edad de Bronce. Un total de 242 dólmenes han sido encontrados con tipologías muy variadas desde los más simples enterramientos con planta pentagonal hasta grandes enterramientos con falsa cúpula. Las dimensiones de estos enterramiento son también diversos existiendo ortostatos de hasta 2,20 metros de altura y diámetros de la cámara de 2,5 metros. El ajuar funerario asociado a las inhumaciones ha permitido su datación desde el Neolítico hasta finales de la Edad del Bronce. Los esqueletos recuperados en los yacimientos han permitido reconstruir los rituales funerarios de estos pueblos, con enterramientos colectivos de varios clanes familiares. El Parque megalítico fue creado en 1998 tras la constatación de numerosos expolios y destrucciones en los monumentos. Está formado por un centro de interpretación localizado en el mismo pueblo de Gorafe y tres rutas señalizadas donde 37 dólmenes fueron restaurados y 66 preparados para la visita.
