Here's a great drone's eye view of an important city in northern Italy.  Pavia is the capital of its namesake province, the southwesternmost province of the Lombardy region.  The city is located about a half hour's drive south of Milan on the Ticino River.  It's located on the Lombard Plain, the flat area south of the Alps which is home to some of Italy's most fertile farmland.  The city of Pavia was the site of an important historical event: the assassination of the Roman General Orestes here in 476 AD marked the end of the Roman Empire.
